Music is uniquely poised to straddle sociocultural and philosophical boundaries. Music lies at the center of global understanding as well as spiritual connectivity. These pieces are the result of Scott’s study of meditation principles, his experiences with Native American spiritual practice, and his encounters with variant rhythms, tonalities, and celebratory structures of non-Western music. The first, Gandharva, is the second track from Scott’s CD of meditation music, Akroasis: Harmonic Chants, and features Scott on various percussion and overtone singing. The second, Snake Dance, is from the soundtrack CD from Circle of Stones Ritual Theatre Ensemble’s 2006 production of The New Earth. The third, Battle for the New Earth, is from the same.
